Cotton is the most common clothing fiber in the world.  Balanced across most categories

Nuances:


Cotton is not “one material”

Cheap cotton and premium cotton can feel like completely different fabrics.

Polyester

Type: Synthetic fiber
Season:
All-season 



Polyester is one of the most common synthetic clothing materials in the world. It is widely used because of its durability, wrinkle resistance, and low production cost. 

Not all polyester is the same. Cheap polyester and high-quality technical polyester can feel completely different.

You should mostly avoid this material for casual wear. It should be used only for high intensity sportswear and outerwear

Advantages

• Very durable
• Wrinkle resistant
• Dries quickly
• Keeps shape well
• Cheap to produce

Disadvantages

• Low breathability
• Can trap heat
• Often feels synthetic or plasticky
• Holds odor more than natural fabrics
• Cheap polyester can look shiny and low quality

Linen 

Type: Natural fiber
Season: Summer 

Linen is a lightweight natural fabric made from the flax plant. It is known for its breathability, textured appearance, and premium summer feel.

Linen is one of the best materials for hot weather and humid climates.

High-quality linen usually has:

• softer finishing

• better drape

• less stiffness

High-quality linen still wrinkles easily, but that is considered part of the fabric’s natural character.

Wool 

Type: Natural fiber

Season: Fall/Winter/Autumn

Wool is a natural material commonly used for warmth, insulation, and winter clothing. It is known for its heat retention, durability, and classic textured appearance.

Wool performs best in colder weather and layered outfits.
